About
Over the years I’ve done quite a lot of music, not only of my own work but in combination with various people on joint projects. On the right hand side you will see a selection of people I’ve collaborated with.
On each individual album page you will find a track list and a ‘play album’ button which will stream the album in its entirety (at medium quality setting of 128kbps).
There are more tracks to listen to in the singles section, these are songs that are not featured on any of the albums as they are not part of a larger project but stand alone as solo pieces.
If you like the site and music then sign up for my mailing list which provides information on new songs & album releases plus special offers found only by signing up so it is well worth it. There is also the chat page where you can leave me any feedback or general chat about the music or anything else that comes to mind.
Potted history of my musical journey to date:
It all began with the acquisition of a four track Tascam tape recorder and an Aria Pro II electric guitar just before leaving to go to university. I taught myself to play the guitar whilst ’studying’ computer science (honestly I did try in the final year).
During my early 20’s I began working at a recording studio in Hull called, The Warren. This is where my ‘musical teeth’ were cut, recording local bands and working on the mixing desk doing live PA work in and around the Humberside and Yorkshire area.
The mainstream media started to take an active interest my work which resulted in my debut solo recording session being filmed by an ITV television crew (as if the deep end was not deep enough). During this time I was also involved with my band ‘Lemur’ which performed at the Adelphi in Hull.
Returing to my home town of Sutton Coldfield I studied the art of African Drumming with African Drum Master Jahman Sillah. These new rhythmic skills had a profound affect on my understanding of sound and culture taking my creativity on exciting new directions amalgamating modern and traditional sounds within a thoroughly personal interpretation. I spent a lot of time during this period studying the art of making drums making 2 of my own.
In 1998 my beloved 4 track was stolen! (I didn’t believe in locking my door) and so “twisted my arm” to embrace the digital revolution, and since then I’ve never looked back. Starting off with a very basic Pentium 66 and semi-decent sound card, I recorded lots of musicians in the local community of Mosley, Birmingham. The recording sessions were mainly of guitarists drummers and singer/ songwriters.
Whilst recording all these local musicians I found I had a lot in common with Richard Tabberer (Tabby), and together (with Nick-the-fish Reilly) began the infamous “Druids of Albany” musical project. The concept was a combination of our synthesised musical talents and our interest in the spiritual side of life. Shortly after the project began, we relocated to Cornwall, as the environment was more conducive and inspirational for the music.
It was during this period that I invested in ‘top of the range’ musical equipment, and launched my own mobile recording studio business the Natural Recording Studio. The ethos of his new venture was based on the Taoist principle “You can not recapture a moment, so you have to be there when the original creativity is unfolding”, hence the need for a completely mobile professional quality setup and so to capture the ‘first press’ of those creative juices!
After this I went on to produce the “Now” series of albums, which were made “in the box” using VST technology (Virtual synthesizers). This brings us up the present day where I now spend most of my time recording my own compositions, and combining with other recording artists and singers. Most recently I’ve been in demand as a music producer for the Daughters of Gaia and written a film score for independent film maker Armorel Hamilton.
